<\/p>\nA football fan is cycling to every one of his team’s away matches this season to raise awareness of inflammatory bowel disease.<\/p>\n
Jake Warner, from Chertsey, Surrey, said he had not seen the fixture list before he decided on the challenge in support of Crohn’s & Colitis UK.<\/p>\n
Chertsey Town FC’s first away fixture was 181 miles (290km) away in Tiverton, Devon, and the furthest will be to Plymouth Parkway, 260 miles (418km) from his home.<\/p>\n
“It’s something I wanted to do for my dad,” he said. “It affects him personally, the illness, so it’s just something I wanted to do for him.”<\/p>\n

Crohn’s disease and colitis are the two main forms of inflammatory bowel disease, according to the charity.<\/p>\n
About one in 120 people in the UK have Crohn’s disease<\/a> or ulcerative colitis, and the NHS says symptoms can include stomach pain, diarrhoea, weight loss and fatigue.<\/p>\n “The more I’ve done this journey, the more people I’ve spoken to,” Mr Warner told BBC Radio Surrey.<\/p>\n “Although it’s a small amount of people, it’s a large community.”<\/p>\n Asked if he felt tired when arriving at the away grounds, he said: “The beer helps to keep me awake.”<\/p>\n The team plays in the Southern League Premier South.<\/p>\n Follow BBC Surrey on Facebook<\/a>, on X<\/a>, and on Instagram<\/a>.
