{"id":347814,"date":"2025-12-14T16:48:14","date_gmt":"2025-12-14T16:48:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/347814\/"},"modified":"2025-12-14T16:48:14","modified_gmt":"2025-12-14T16:48:14","slug":"ex-ufc-fighter-reportedly-arrested-with-nearly-2-million-worth-of-cocaine-weapons-in-major-bust","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/347814\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-UFC fighter reportedly arrested with nearly $2 million worth of cocaine, weapons in \u2018major\u2019 bust"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">A former UFC fighter is reportedly in hot water.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/montreal\/article\/montreal-police-seize-more-than-100-kg-of-cocaine-3-guns-in-major-anti-gang-bust\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CTV News<\/a> in Canada, Montreal police confirmed ex-UFC welterweight Alex Garcia was one of three people arrested after the anti-gang unit seized 102 grams of cocaine in \u2014 what is being described as \u2014 a \u201cmajor\u201d raid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Per the report, the cocaine amount was valued at $1.7 million USD ($2.3 million CAD), and officers also recovered 20 liters of gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), approximately five kilograms of heroin, $306,000 in cash, along with three firearms and two vehicles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cLaunched in July 2025, this criminal investigation revealed that the Toronto area was being used as a supply source and that the drugs were then being resold at a higher price in Greater Montreal,\u201d police said in a press release obtained by CTV News.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Michele Laddaga, 49, and 45-year-old Victor Julio Sanchez Medrano were also reportedly arrested as part of the investigation. Police are reportedly searching for wo other suspects \u2014 40-year-old Rattana Sem and V\u00e9ronique Plouffe, 37 \u2014 who are on the run.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Garcia competed 10 times inside the octagon with a promotional record of 5-5, and competed against the likes of Sean Strickland, Neil Magny, and Tim Means.
