{"id":350648,"date":"2025-12-16T00:49:10","date_gmt":"2025-12-16T00:49:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/350648\/"},"modified":"2025-12-16T00:49:10","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T00:49:10","slug":"golf-insider-livs-party-will-be-over-if-bryson-dechambeau-leaves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/350648\/","title":{"rendered":"Golf insider: LIV&#8217;s party &#8220;will be over&#8221; if Bryson DeChambeau leaves"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Veteran sports reporter Rex Hoggard has suggested the LIV Golf party &#8220;will be over&#8221; if <a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmagic.com\/players\/bryson-dechambeau\" data-entity-type=\"taxonomy_term\" data-entity-uuid=\"242767b9-c064-41ee-8466-f7a85ab9a8cc\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Bryson DeChambeau\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bryson DeChambeau<\/a> and Brooks Koepka leave the breakaway tour.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Both golfers&#8217; contracts with the PIF-backed league expire at the conclusion of the 2026 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The major champions joined LIV from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmagic.com\/tours\/pga-tour\" data-entity-type=\"taxonomy_term\" data-entity-uuid=\"2a113a33-7dfe-494e-bc65-4465fd7ab6fb\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"PGA Tour\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">PGA Tour<\/a> in 2022 after signing deals worth more than $100m, but in recent weeks there have been reports their futures are in doubt.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It is understood that DeChambeau wants to stay put and is fully invested in the future and growth of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmagic.com\/tour\/liv-golf\" data-entity-type=\"taxonomy_term\" data-entity-uuid=\"a98bdd27-b225-4fc9-b7d2-bbff98678a53\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"LIV Golf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">LIV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But he may be seeking an even bigger up-front sum of money than he was given three years ago.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>DeChambeau, a two-time U.S. Open champion, was one of the most divisive characters during his PGA Tour days.<\/p>\n<p>But he has seen his popularity soar since he started creating content, clinched a second major win and produced plenty of box-office performances.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Across all of his social media channels, DeChambeau now boasts more than four million followers. His YouTube channel generates tens of millions of views per video.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It doesn&#8217;t seem unreasonable to suggest that LIV will be absolutely desperate to keep hold of DeChambeau.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/2024-02-04t182542z_346205539_up1ek241f6swq_rtrmadp_3_golf-liv-mayakoba-1.JPG\"   type=\"image\/jpeg\" alt=\"Brooks Koepka\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.54\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>Brooks Koepka<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>As for Koepka, Sports Business Journal have reported that the American, 35, is contemplating &#8220;sitting out&#8221; LIV&#8217;s 14-event 2026 season such is his discontent.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmagic.com\/players\/brooks-koepka\" data-entity-type=\"taxonomy_term\" data-entity-uuid=\"5afa99fd-7484-4c59-bf2c-7368bc30b1e6\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Brooks Koepka\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Koepka<\/a> previously admitted he signed with LIV Golf &#8220;for the dough&#8221;. The offer came in at the same time he feared his career was going to be cut short because of a serious knee injury.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At least four golf sources indicated there was a chance he may not play in the upcoming LIV season despite being under contract,&#8221; SBJ reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Koepka has not commented on the claim whilst LIV&#8217;s chief executive, Scott O&#8217;Neil, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmagic.com\/tour\/liv-golf\/liv-golf-ceo-makes-announcement-regarding-brooks-koepkas-future\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"231b788c-c91c-4aaa-a15b-da56366c3443\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"LIV Golf CEO makes announcement regarding Brooks Koepka&#039;s future \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">addressed<\/a> the speculation by stating simply that the five-time major winner is &#8220;signed for 2026&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The aforementioned Hoggard, though, believes LIV will be in big trouble if Koepka and DeChambeau are absent from LIV Golf beyond 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>Hoggard suggested the recent speculation surrounding Koepka may be a &#8220;negotiating ploy&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think what would signal to the other players on LIV is more telling, because it would show them that no, you&#8217;re not consigned to this lot in life just because you took big pot of money,&#8221; he told <a href=\"https:\/\/golfchannel.com\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Golf Channel<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You can come back and this is the way that you could do it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That, to me, would be the bigger message that would be sent because, also let&#8217;s keep in mind, Bryson DeChambeau&#8217;s contract is coming up as well.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And you&#8217;re right, Brooks may be doing this as a negotiating ploy, I don&#8217;t think anybody is really concerned about that right now, because my guess is Scott O&#8217;Neil is busy enough trying to figure out how he&#8217;s going to re-sign Bryson.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Because if LIV Golf doesn&#8217;t re-sign that one, you&#8217;re pulling the plug, the party&#8217;s over.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/2025-06-11t202541z_845022140_mt1usatoday26425694_rtrmadp_3_pga-u-s-open-practice-round_0.JPG\"   type=\"image\/jpeg\" alt=\"Bryson DeChambeau\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.5\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>Bryson DeChambeau<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the same topic on the Straight Facts Homie podcast, Trey Wingo said it &#8220;only takes one guy to be the springboard for everybody else&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And once that one domino falls, almost in any other situation, whether it&#8217;s sports, politics, business, when one guy decides to go the other way, then the next one and the next one and the next one will follow suit,&#8221;
