The Woking-based squad gathered at the McLaren Technology Centre last weekend to celebrate a landmark 2025 campaign, following the FIA Awards gala where the team collected its trophies after securing both world titles in the same season for the first time since 1998.<\/p>\n
Piastri was first to address staff during the celebration, delivering a reflective speech on a season that saw him lead the drivers\u2019 championship for much of the year before ultimately finishing third behind teammate and champion Lando Norris.<\/p>\n
The Australian thanked the workforce for navigating what he described as a rollercoaster campaign filled with highs and lows.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think only the people in this room know all of the emotions that went into this year,\u201d Piastri said.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot just the stats. All the hard work, the pride, the disappointment at times, the frustration, the intensity. What else is there? The determination we had, the relentlessness, and I think the enjoyment and the happiness that\u2019s come from this season. So, thank you very much for all of that.\u201d<\/p>\n

And I think it\u2019s worn us pretty thin \u2026 not quite as thin as our planks in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n \u201cWe can laugh about it now.\u201d<\/p>\n That weekend in Las Vegas proved pivotal in the title fight, with Norris losing a second-place finish and Piastri fourth, allowing Max Verstappen to claw back significant points in the championship battle.<\/p>\n Later in the evening, McLaren CEO Brown took to the stage and delivered a series of jokes aimed at both drivers, footage of which has since circulated widely on social media.<\/p>\n zak brown: \u201cwe took big risks on both of you. and don\u2019t pretend you had better options, you had fucking alpine!\u201d<\/p>\n WHAT IS THIS SPEECH BY ZAK I\u2019M IN TEARS pic.twitter.com\/vHooXLp4om<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 ari (@laurogeitabat) December 14, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n Brown referenced the risks McLaren took in committing to Norris and signing Piastri, whose move to the team followed a highly publicised split from Alpine.<\/p>\n \u201cWe took big risks on both of you, and don\u2019t pretend you had better options,\u201d Brown said.<\/p>\n Pointing at Piastri, he added: \u201cYou had f***ing Alpine,\u201d before turning to Norris and joking: \u201cAnd you had to be faster than Stoffel Vandoorne.\u201d<\/p>\n Brown continued his playful roast with further quips about working with the pair and their relationship with team principal Andrea Stella.<\/p>\n \u201cI couldn\u2019t dream of having a better driver lineup on and off the track,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n zak brown: \u201cwhat i really wanna do is mess up lando\u2019s hair right now but i\u2019m gonna dare oscar and see how big his balls really are\u201d<\/p>\n SO THAT\u2019S HOW IT HAPPENED \ud83d\ude2d\ud83d\ude2d pic.twitter.com\/LAggUzYXed<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 ari (@laurogeitabat) December 14, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cTwo fastest guys in the world and nicest. Both drivers love me, idolise me, and call me \u2018Big Daddy\u2019 behind my back.<\/p>\n \u201cReality is they\u2019ll mess with me, but they won\u2019t mess with Andrea [Stella] \u2018cause, deep down inside, they\u2019re scared shitless of Andrea.\u201d<\/p>\n Brown later joked about Norris\u2019 carefully styled hair, daring Piastri to ruffle it in front of the crowd after FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem had done so at the FIA Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat I really wanna do is mess up Lando\u2019s hair right now, but I\u2019m gonna dare Oscar and see how big his balls really are!\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Norris won his inaugural drivers\u2019 championship by two points over Verstappen in the Abu Dhabi season finale, while McLaren secured their 10th constructors\u2019 title in Singapore, finishing 364 points clear of Mercedes at the end of the season.<\/p>\n
