Kmart<\/a> has released a new item that will allow you to make the same type of treat that ice cream<\/a> stores across the world whip up. If you’ve ever wanted to have rolled ice cream<\/a> but didn’t want to leave the house, the $14 product from the Aussie retailer could be perfect.<\/p>\n

The Ice Cream Mix in Kit also allows you mash up items like you might see at Cold Rock and turn it into a quick and tasty dessert. But it didn’t take long for customers to race to their local Kmart to get their hands on the kit<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“This popular item has sold out online,” is the message that now greets online shoppers.<\/p>\n

Yahoo Lifestyle checked online and the Ice Cream Mix in Kit is sold out in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Darwin, and Hobart.<\/p>\n

At the time of writing, it’s still available for delivery, Click and Collect, and purchase in-store in Sydney, Perth, and Canberra.<\/p>\n

Kmart shoppers said the ice cream kit would be a “great” idea for kids this Christmas and for anyone who wants a cool, sweet treat as the mercury climbs.<\/p>\n

“This looks so good,” wrote one person.<\/p>\n

“Was hidden on a bottom shelf at the back in my local Kmart. Only spotted it by chance – great stocking stuffer,” added another.<\/p>\n

“I need to get one,” said a third.<\/p>\n

How does Kmart’s $14 ice cream kit work?<\/p>\n

It looks like a simple tin tray, but if you have some time up your sleeve, you can use it to make delicious ice cream.<\/p>\n

You have to wash the plate with warm (not hot) water and dry it completely before you use it for the first time.<\/p>\n

Then, you just have to turn it upside down and place it on a flat surface in the freezer.<\/p>\n

Chuck it in there for at least 12 hours at a temperature below -18\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

When you pull it out, that tray will be very cold, which will help freeze liquids like milk or yoghurt in a few minutes.<\/p>\n

Once the liquid has hardened, you can use the scraper that’s included in the kit to delicately roll the treat just like a professional ice cream shop.<\/p>\n

The Kmart kit comes with 15 grams of freeze-dried strawberries and sprinkles that you can use for your first few attempts.<\/p>\n

Kmart’s suggested recipe is to combine 100mL of yoghurt with 3 grams of those strawberries.<\/p>\n

You can also use heavy cream, condensed milk, or a plant-based substitute, and mix in your choice of diced fruits, nuts, chocolate chips, or lollies.<\/p>\n
