{"id":350808,"date":"2025-12-16T02:35:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-16T02:35:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/350808\/"},"modified":"2025-12-16T02:35:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T02:35:09","slug":"rugby-world-cup-legacy-program-to-leave-mark-in-regional-nsw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/350808\/","title":{"rendered":"Rugby World Cup Legacy Program to leave mark in regional NSW"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The NSW Government is backing the growth of rugby union across regional NSW and Western Sydney, with communities set to benefit from a major boost to the sport through the $4.8-million NSW Rugby World Cup Legacy Program, now officially open.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lismore MP Janelle Saffin says the Program is part of the state government&#8217;s $10-million investment in rugby because of NSW hosting games at the Men\u2019s Rugby World Cup 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Saffin is encouraging rugby clubs and local councils in the Lismore Electorate to apply for grants under the Program to improve rugby facilities and infrastructure, improve player pathways and increase participation.<\/p>\n<p>During the first round of the NSW Rugby World Cup Legacy Program, $2.15 million is available with grants ranging from $5,000 to $150,000.<\/p>\n<p>The Program has a focus on developing the game in regional NSW and Western Sydney with projects that target women and girls, and people from diverse communities as a priority.<\/p>\n<p>The NSW Rugby World Cup Legacy Program will be delivered by the NSW Government in collaboration with NSW Rugby Union, ACT &amp; Southern NSW Rugby Union and Rugby Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Applications close Monday, 16 February 2026.
