He didn\u2019t miss a cut. His statistical performance included tour-leading numbers in scoring average \u201368.131 adjusted and 67.99 actual \u2013 and strokes gained\/total at 2.743.<\/p>\n
But now the undisputed world\u2019s No. 1 player wants to be fitter and stronger for the 2026 season. That can\u2019t bode well for the competition.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I talk about strength, it\u2019s basically getting my body back to where it was in 2024. So that\u2019s something that would be basically unnoticeable to anybody but myself just based upon how I feel,\u201d he said. \u201cThen using the time that I have here at home to get my body into a good place to where I could go out and compete another 20, 22 weeks out on tour because the season now is more of a sprint. You don\u2019t really have the time throughout the year to be doing tons of strength stuff or anything like that. Basically, I just wanted to kind of maximise this offseason in terms of getting my body in a good place to where I could go out and compete and have good energy, have a good mind and just overall being a bit healthier in a sense.\u201d<\/p>\n
Scheffler said he is most proud of his consistency from week to week, being in contention, posting high finishes if he doesn\u2019t win. He credits the mindset that changed for him a few years ago that began this run of Jack Nicklaus Awards.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen you look at the last few years, I\u2019ve been able to have a lot of 54 hole leads and then held those leads as well. I felt like early in my career I wasn\u2019t bringing the proper intensity to the first few rounds of the tournament,\u201d he explained. \u201cIt was almost like when the lights came on on the weekend, I was better than I was earlier in the week when there almost was lower stakes. A lot of that has just been trying to bring that same intensity to each round and every shot, which is a lot easier said than done.\u201d<\/p>\n
