Reigning Top 14<\/a> champions Toulouse<\/a> have been docked two points and fined \u20ac45k by the Ligue Nationale de Rugby (LNR) due to \u201cunusual financial transactions\u201d surrounding the signing of Melvyn Jaminet<\/a> in 2022.<\/p>\n

The club have been under investigation by the Commission de Contr\u00f4le des Championnats professionnels (CCCP), with the findings, and subsequent sanctions, from the investigation released on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The investigation concerned transactions that helped Toulouse circumvent salary cap rulings with their \u20ac450k signing of Jaminet from Perpignan<\/a> in 2022. <\/p>\n

Toulouse were found to have failed to declare image rights guaranteed to Jaminet, and have therefore been fined and docked points, with a further two-point deduction and a \u20ac15k fine suspended. The deduction saw Toulouse drop from the top of the league ladder to second behind Pau. <\/p>\n

The LNR statement reads: \u201cThe disciplinary board considered that the evidence emerging from the investigation carried out by the CCCP demonstrated that the club was in breach of its obligation to maintain proper accounting records in accordance with accounting law for all transactions, in accordance with the provisions stipulated in particular by the A2R regulations, and that it had failed to declare to the CCCP the image rights guaranteed to Mr. Melvyn Jaminet.\u201d<\/p>\n

Toulouse have since issued a statement on social media, in which they did not rule out appealing the decision. They have seven days to lodge an appeal. <\/p>\n

\u201cToulouse acknowledge the decision rendered by the National Rugby League,\u201d was written on X.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe decision comes at the end of a procedure whose modalities have profoundly damaged its image, and we deplore this.<\/p>\n

\u201cCommitted to its values ??of transparency and responsibility, Toulouse will analyse in the coming days, with its legal counsel, the possibility of appealing to uphold its rights.\u201d<\/p>\n
