Despite boasting a stellar coaching resume \u2013 which also includes training 22 Olympic champions \u2013 Diaz has come under fire this week from several quarters, including both Hall of Famer Fenech and Velazquez\u2019s coach Hector Bermudez.<\/p>\n
As revealed by <\/a>Fox Sports Australia<\/a>, Fenech will not be attending Wednesday night\u2019s TikTok Entertainment Centre headliner, having declared footage out of Tszyu\u2019s camp as \u201cf***ing worse than anything I\u2019ve seen\u201d.<\/p>\n Less than three months after being announced as a key part of Tszyu\u2019s new team, Fenech suggested Diaz was training Tszyu no differently to his previous coach Igor Goloubev and branded some of the padwork sessions being uploaded to YouTube as laughable.<\/p>\n Apart from being one of Australian boxing\u2019s most respected voices, Fenech has also had his opinion backed by Velazquez\u2019s coach Hector Bermudez, who branded Diaz a coach famed for being \u201chired and fired\u201d.<\/a><\/p>\n The New York native \u2013 who has himself trained five world champions — also spoke of being able to name 10 coaches better suited for Tszyu, who is looking to rebound from three world title losses against Sebastian Fundora and Bakhram Murtazaliev. <\/p>\n Tim Tszyu and trainer Pedro Diaz in Miami. What did he say?\u201d<\/p>\n Told the main criticism centred around him not training Tszyu any differently to his former coach, he continued: \u201cBefore Tim was with someone else, now he is with Pedro Diaz.<\/p>\n \u201cSo I don\u2019t have to go to his backstory.<\/p>\n \u201cI have to look at the story from here on.\u201d<\/p>\n And as for question marks regarding your padwork with the Australian?<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m going to tell you something,\u201d Diaz said. \u201cI\u2019ve had God\u2019s blessing to work with 22 Olympic champions, and 22 professional world champions.<\/p>\n \u201cIf my mitts are not good, those are the results.<\/p>\n \u201cSo where are his results? Whoever that is.\u201d<\/p>\n “Going to quit again”: Coach blasts Tim | 05:02<\/p>\n While Tszyu has been in Australia for the best part of two weeks, Diaz only arrived on Tuesday morning after cornering another charge \u2013 Armenia\u2019s Noel Mikaeljan \u2013to win the WBC cruiserweight title in Los Angeles on Saturday.<\/p>\n As a result, the Cuban cornerman also replied frankly when quizzed on Bermudez\u2019s long list of criticisms, which included not being alongside Tszyu until a day before the fight.<\/p>\n Bermudez also suggested joining the Mundo Boxing boss would actually be detrimental to Tszyu\u2019s career, and branded it \u201ca huge mistake\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cI have something clear in my life,\u201d Diaz said in response. \u201cI try to do everything correct, or I don\u2019t do it.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t care what anybody says.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat is important to me, is what I do in growing the person.<\/p>\n \u201cEverybody is going to apply the criticism.<\/p>\n \u201cBut nobody is going to say, \u2018how do you solve the problem?\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWhen Tim came to me, I was in camp with Noel.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s why I haven\u2019t been in camp with him now.<\/p>\n \u201cTim also came out here early due to the time change.
