Howard Stern isn\u2019t going anywhere. The self-proclaimed King of All Media<\/a>, who grew up in Roosevelt and Rockville Centre<\/a> and now lives in Southampton, announced\u00a0Tuesday\u00a0morning on his SiriusXM satellite radio program that he has renewed his contract for another three years.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m happy to announce that I figured out a way to have it all … more\u00a0free time and continuing to be on the radio,” Stern,\u00a071, said\u00a0on the air. “Yes, we are coming back for three years. I hope I don\u2019t die during this contract because I\u2019m at that weird age where people drop dead. Who knows?”<\/p>\n

Before re-upping, Stern said he had checked with his sidekick, Robin Quivers, to see if she was ready for more.<\/p>\n

“If Robin wasn\u2019t up for it, I wasn\u2019t going to do it,” said Stern, who has been on SiriusXM\u2019s programming since 2006. “Robin is busy trying to save her own life with a battle of cancer. It does require a tremendous amount of her time. She has to take care of herself.”<\/p>\n

Quivers, 73, added, “Cancer is a formidable opponent. You have to be vigilant.”<\/p>\n

No financial terms were revealed. But Stern hinted, “There\u2019s more details to give. I\u2019m going to have more flexibility. Some things are going to change.”<\/p>\n

However, Stern said\u00a0his relationship with SiriusXM is strong.<\/p>\n

“I do love this company and I feel very loyal to this company. They did want me to come back and they said, \u2018Whatever you want to do, we will do for you,\u2019 \u201d he said.\u00a0“I\u2019m excited about it because I do still love radio.”<\/p>\n

Stern has been teasing\u00a0his audience about renewing his contract since the summer. While on vacation, rumors began to swirl about his\u00a0possible departure. Ever the\u00a0prankster, Stern used this as an opportunity to make a comedy bit out of the situation.<\/p>\n

First, he drummed up massive anticipation<\/a> for his Sept. 2 return, which he delayed for a week due to illness. On Sept. 8\u00a0as a fake-out gag<\/a>, he had Bravo talk-show host and radio personality Andy Cohen take over his channel, calling it “Andy 100.”<\/p>\n

Once Cohen went to commercial break, promos started running about Stern\u2019s firing. Suddenly, Stern began speaking: “Lest you think that was real,” he said. “That was masterminded by me.”<\/p>\n

Stern was on the air throughout the fall as negotiations continued. He is set to go on holiday break and will return to the show Jan. 5.<\/p>\n
