Originally scheduled for release on January 9, 2026, Soulm8te has been dropped from Universal\u2019s release calendar.<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/a> reports that the studio is shopping the film, which takes place in the M3GAN universe.<\/p>\n

The decision comes in the wake of the disappointing response to M3GAN 2.0, which grossed $39 million worldwide against an estimated $25 million budget. By contrast, the first M3GAN made $180 million on a $12 million budget in 2022.<\/p>\n

SOULM8TE is directed by Kate Dolan (You Are Not My Mother), written by Dolan and Rafael Jordan (Yeti: Curse of the Snow Demon), and produced by Atomic Monster\u2019s James Wan and Blumhouse\u2019s Jason Blum.<\/p>\n

The film follows a man who acquires an artificially intelligent android to cope with the loss of his recently deceased wife. In an attempt to create a truly sentient partner, he inadvertently turns a harmless love-bot into a deadly soulmate.<\/p>\n

Lily Sullivan (Evil Dead Rise), David Rysdahl (\u201cAlien: Earth\u201d), Claudia Doumit (\u201cThe Boys\u201d), Arty Froushan (\u201cDaredevil: Born Again\u201d), and Oliver Cooper (Project X) star.<\/p>\n

\u201cSOULM8TE is basically set in the same AI world [as M3GAN] but seen through a more grown-up perspective, one that embraces all the great erotic thrillers from the \u201990s,\u201d Wan previously stated<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s like Fatal Attraction but with robots.\u201d<\/p>\n
