\n\tMore than a decade after \u201cThe Intouchables<\/a>\u201d became a global box office phenomenon and launched Omar Sy\u2019s international career, a Turkish remake of the French buddy comedy titled \u201cYan Yana\u201d is doing gangbuster business in Turkey, becoming the country\u2019s 2025 box office champ.<\/p>\n

\n\tSince the film\u2019s Nov. 14 release in Turkish movie theatres via Universal Pictures International, \u201cYan Yana,\u201d which is directed by Mert Baykal, has scored more than two million admissions, pulling more than $12.4 million, and counting.<\/p>\n

\n\tThat figure is more than twice the Turkish box office take of \u201cA Minecraft Movie\u201d ($5.2 million) and roughly three times as much as \u201cZootopia 2\u201d ($4.1 million), according to Box Office Mojo figures.<\/p>\n

\n\tProduced by Turkey\u2019s NuLook Production \u2013 the prominent company behind works by prominent Turkish helmers Nuri Bilge Ceylan and Emin Alper \u2013 \u201cYan Yanna\u201d is also the\u00a0first Turkish film to be released locally in IMAX format.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Turkish adaptation follows the same premise as the original\u00a0\u201cIntouchables,\u201d which was produced by Gaumont<\/a>. A wealthy man, Refik (Haluk Bilginer), is paralyzed after a paragliding accident and hires a cheerful caregiver, Ferruh (Feyyaz Yi\u011fit), who comes from a completely different background.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYan Yana,\u201d which is also being released in several European territories (France, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Belgium, Switzerland and the Netherlands)\u00a0via European distributor Cinedex, follows several other \u201cIntouchables\u201d adaptations around the world.
