{"id":356251,"date":"2025-12-18T14:55:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-18T14:55:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/356251\/"},"modified":"2025-12-18T14:55:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-18T14:55:09","slug":"f1-star-tipped-for-aston-martin-if-max-verstappen-pursuit-fails","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/356251\/","title":{"rendered":"F1 star tipped for Aston Martin if Max Verstappen pursuit fails"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Charles Leclerc has been tipped to make a switch to Aston Martin if Ferrari fails to deliver him a world championship winning F1 car.<\/p>\n<p>The 28-year-old Monegasque has been patiently waiting for a championship-winning F1 car since joining <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/teams\/ferrari\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ferrari<\/a> in 2019, and has so far been unable to mount a serious title bid.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/racer\/889402\/charles-leclerc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Leclerc <\/a>had another standout season in 2025 despite Ferrari suffering a nightmare campaign in which they slipped from second to fourth in the constructors\u2019 championship and failed to win for the first time since 2021.<\/p>\n<p>With Leclerc\u2019s loyalty and patience set to be tested in a make-or-break year for Ferrari in 2026, he has been linked with a move elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s not forget about Charles Leclerc,\u201d Sky Sports F1 pitlane reporter Ted Kravitz said on the F1 Show Podcast.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomething else that happened this year was that his manager, Nicolas Todt, said just after the summer break, started talking about, well, it\u2019s time for Charles to be in a car that\u2019s worthy of the championship and potentially looking elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven though I think he signed for Ferrari to the end of 2028. So it could be Leclerc leaving Ferrari before [Lewis] Hamilton does.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fellow Sky Sports F1 pundit Karun Chandhok said: \u201cHe\u2019s at his peak, isn\u2019t he? He\u2019s at an age and a time of his career where he\u2019s now got the experience. He\u2019s always had the speed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd he\u2019s in that category with a George Russell, a Lando Norris, and an Oscar Piastri. That next rung just below Max Verstappen, who could all win the world championship in the right car if they had the opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Leclerc to Aston Martin?\u00a0    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/xpb_1389283_hires_0.jpg\"   type=\"image\/jpeg\" alt=\"Could Leclerc end up at Aston Martin?\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.5\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>Could Leclerc end up at Aston Martin?<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>Leclerc has already been linked with a move to Aston Martin, with reports in Italy claiming the Silverstone-based squad have \u201crepeatedly contacted\u201d his manager, Nicolas Todt.<\/p>\n<p>And Kravitz believes Leclerc could emerge as an option for Aston Martin should they fail to land their number one target <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/racer\/852\/max-verstappen\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Max Verstappen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s been brilliant this year, hasn\u2019t he? I think he\u2019s made my top five [drivers of 2025]. He\u2019s been great. He\u2019s ready to win a championship like Russell,\u201d Kravitz added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere is he going to go?
