Mustaine, 64, has long promoted martial arts as part of a healthy lifestyle and continued to train while battling throat cancer back in 2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The metal icon is one of six practitioners to earn the coveted belt during last week\u2019s ceremony.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cIt was a day that touched my heart,\u201d Almeida wrote on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DR8jK2wju2J\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">social media<\/a>. \u201cWatching these six men earn their Black Belts was emotional for me \u2014 because I know their stories, their struggles, their sacrifices, and everything they had to overcome to stand on those mats. Each one of them showed up on days when life was heavy \u2026 on days when they were tired \u2026 on days when quitting would\u2019ve been easier.
