\u201cNever, ever wear open-toed shoes to a game like that when you\u2019re sitting on the floor,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cJalen, who\u2019s now like super-duper, he is so great \u2026 I have the Brunson fracture. He stepped on my big toe.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stewart said Brunson fell into her lap and stepped on her toe with about five minutes remaining in the game.<\/p>\n
\u201cI knew it was broken immediately,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cHe comes crashing down, sat on my lap, and I grabbed his arm and his arm was like icy cold. And I thought he\u2019s a basketball player, he should be sweaty. He wasn\u2019t sweaty at all. He was cool as a cucumber.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Knicks blew a 14-point lead to the Indiana Pacers with three minutes left.<\/p>\n
\u201cThen they went into overtime,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cWhich made it even more painful because I couldn\u2019t get up and leave to go take care of my toe.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Knicks wound up losing. Stewart shared with a chuckle that she told Brunson\u2019s parents about her toe after the game. Jalen\u2019s father, Rick, is an assistant coach for the Knicks.<\/p>\n
\u201cI met his parents,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cAnd they were laughing. They thought it was so funny.\u201d<\/p>\n
For her troubles, Stewart was given a signed basketball for her grandchild. Her shoe selection is limited in the aftermath.<\/p>\n
