It examined club capability, governance, workforce sustainability and competition structures to ensure rugby in Tasmania is positioned for long-term success.

A clear commitment to the future

The TRU Board has endorsed all 16 recommendations in principle (with amendment to the implementation of Recs 10, 11 & 12), recognising the need for a coordinated, evidence based approach to strengthening the game at every level.
The Activation Roadmap sets out a staged and collaborative implementation plan from 2026 onwards, with an initial focus on:
• Building sustainable governance and planning frameworks within clubs
• Strengthening competition structures across senior men’s, women’s and junior rugby
• Expanding and supporting the rugby workforce
• Improving consistency, accountability and communication across the system
Importantly, the Board has acknowledged the diverse capacity of clubs and committed to flexible timelines, ensuring reforms are delivered in partnership and at a pace that brings the whole rugby community along the journey.

“Thrive, not just survive”

TRU General Manager Jeff Quick said the Review and Roadmap reflect a shared ambition for the future of the sport in Tasmania.
“This work is about ensuring rugby in Tasmania doesn’t simply hold on year to year but genuinely thrives.
The Review gave us a clear, evidence-based picture of where we are and where we need to go. The Activation Roadmap now provides the structure and accountability to turn that insight into action, while recognising the realities facing clubs and volunteers.”

Next steps

Throughout 2026, TRU will focus on establishing the foundational frameworks that underpin long term growth, with further initiatives including club accelerator programs and delivery model innovation, phased in over subsequent years.
TRU thanks everyone who contributed to the Review process and looks forward to continuing to work closely with clubs and stakeholders as the recommendations are brought to life.

Read the documents:
• Club Capability & Competition Framework Review (Full Report)
• Post-Review Activation Roadmap

Tasmanian Rugby Union Releases Club Capability & Competition Review and Activation Roadmap Tasmanian Rugby Union (TRU) has…

[567
64,63,760,85,195576
0":"post-357289","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-rugby","8":"tag-au","9":"tag-australia","10":"tag-rugby","11":"tag-sports","12":"tag-tasrugbycomau
["GET
