{"id":359640,"date":"2025-12-20T03:34:07","date_gmt":"2025-12-20T03:34:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/359640\/"},"modified":"2025-12-20T03:34:07","modified_gmt":"2025-12-20T03:34:07","slug":"marc-marquez-gives-eight-out-of-ten-answer-on-ducati-motogp-future","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/359640\/","title":{"rendered":"Marc Marquez gives \u201ceight out of ten\u201d answer on Ducati MotoGP future"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After returning to the top of the MotoGP World Championship in his debut season with Ducati, Marc Marquez says he is confident the Bologna factory will again deliver \u201cthe fastest bike\u201d for the final year of the 1000cc regulations in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>But beyond that, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/1654\/marc-marquez\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marquez<\/a> admits his future is &#8220;still up in the air&#8221; as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MotoGP<\/a> prepares for a switch to 850cc machines and Pirelli tyres in 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Now 32 and the oldest rider on the grid after Johann Zarco, Marquez could claim a tenth world title next season, moving him ahead of Valentino Rossi and drawing level with the record of Giacomo Agostini.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the spectacular success of his first year in red, Marquez has repeatedly kept the possibility open of one day returning to Honda, the manufacturer with which he spent the majority of his MotoGP career.<\/p>\n<p>Asked during Ducati\u2019s end-of-year &#8216;Campioni in Festa&#8217; celebrations whether a Honda return was possible for 2027, GPone.com quotes Marquez as saying:<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor next year, it\u2019s clear that we\u2019ll have the fastest bike, which is the most important thing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For 2027-2028, however, everything is still up in the air; everything will be open.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut if you look at me, I\u2019m happy, I\u2019m fast, and I\u2019m winning, I\u2019ve tried not to move.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo the priority is to be fast, and in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/teams\/ducati-lenovo-team\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ducati<\/a> you can be that, but I\u2019ll also have to understand many things and decide what\u2019s best for my future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pressed to rate his desire to remain at Ducati on a scale of zero to ten, Marquez replied:<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know, for my part, I\u2019d say eight. We\u2019re working to win, and everyone wants it, and that\u2019s very important for 2027-2028.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Marquez\u2019s comments suggest he is planning a normal two-year contract.
