{"id":359807,"date":"2025-12-20T05:25:07","date_gmt":"2025-12-20T05:25:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/359807\/"},"modified":"2025-12-20T05:25:07","modified_gmt":"2025-12-20T05:25:07","slug":"new-zealand-and-australia-qualify-son-of-all-black-great-shines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/359807\/","title":{"rendered":"New Zealand and Australia qualify, son of All Black great shines"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Day two of the Global Youth Sevens has seen more dominance from Australia, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/new-zealand\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New Zealand<\/a> have now joined the party with some strong wins.<\/p>\n<p>After <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/australia\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Australia<\/a> dominated the trans-Tasman showdowns on day one with wins to the tune of 24-19 in the Boys grade and 27-21 in the Girls\u2019, the winning momentum was continued on day two.<\/p>\n<p>Australia U18 Boys made short work of NZ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/fiji\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fiji<\/a> Boys in the opening game of the day, claiming a 34-7 win. The team then backed up that effort with a 29-19 win over Tongan Barbarians, overcoming an early 19-7 deficit with much-improved discipline in the second period. A 21-17 victory over New Zealand Bucks, despite a two-man disadvantage, completed the day for Australia. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/players\/treyvon-pritchard\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Treyvon Pritchard<\/a> played another starring role in the day\u2019s results as the Aussies qualified for the semi-finals.<\/p>\n<p>New Zealand U18 Boys put up a big score against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/hawkes-bay\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hawkes Bay<\/a> Saracens, with Matt Fleming\u2019s pace stealing the show for two tries. The win also qualified the Kiwis for the semi-finals.<\/p>\n<p>The New Zealand U18 Girls ran up the scoreboard with 41 unanswered points against the NZ Fijian Girls, before claiming a 26-14 win over Pacific Tribe Queensland.<\/p>\n<p>Both New Zealand and Australia\u2019s girls\u2019 teams have games to play on Sunday morning before the semi-final matchups are confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere in the competition, the son of an All Black icon made some waves with his form.
