The NBA has reminded its teams it wants to control which types of bets are offered on its games, an indicator it will continue negotiating with sportsbooks and regulatory agencies to make that happen.<\/p>\n
In a move about two months after the arrests of Miami guard Terry Rozier and Portland coach Chauncey Billups on separate gambling-related charges, the league acknowledged that what was announced on Friday was to \u201cfurther promote understanding of and adherence to the league\u2019s betting rules.\u201d<\/p>\n
A copy of a memo obtained by the Associated Press detailed a list of changes \u2013 some minor, some not-so-minor \u2013 the league said it would implement as part of its policies regarding injury reporting, the issue of \u201ctanking,\u201d safety measures for players and coaches, and more.<\/p>\n
Among the changes:<\/p>\n
\u2013 Except on the second day of back-to-back games, teams will be required to resubmit injury reports on game days. For games that tip off at 5pm or earlier, the additional report would come between 8-10am; otherwise, the additional report would come between 11am and 1pm. The league said the move would \u201cfurther promote transparency regarding players\u2019 game participation status, and thereby diminish the value of confidential information that could be tipped\u201d to bettors or others.<\/p>\n
