Camborne continued their unbeaten league record over Cornish rivals Redruth as they won 28-18 at the Rec in National Two West. <\/p>\n
Camborne have won five and drawn the other of their six meetings since they were promoted back to the fourth tier three years ago and resumed their league rivalry after a 32-year break. <\/p>\n
In incredibly tough wet conditions AJ Hussell’s try put Camborne 7-3 up at the break before two Kyle Moyle penalties made it 13-3 after 50 minutes.<\/p>\n
Chris Rovery’s try reduced the gap to three points soon after, but a Moyle penalty made it 16-10 before an unconverted Jack Counter try reduced the gap to a single point with 14 minutes to go.<\/p>\n
But two tries in the final 10 minutes and another Moyle penalty ensured Camborne stay eight points clear at the top of the division while Redruth slip to 10th place.<\/p>\n
“It was a bit of a war of attrition,” Redruth boss Ian Morgan told BBC Radio Cornwall. <\/p>\n
“It wasn’t a spectacle for the crowd, but I think credit to them as well today – to have so many people turn up to watch this game in these conditions is a testament to the supporters of both clubs.<\/p>\n
“They probably just had a little bit more than we had in that second half, played the conditions very well, they’re well drilled.<\/p>\n
