{"id":361665,"date":"2025-12-21T02:48:17","date_gmt":"2025-12-21T02:48:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/361665\/"},"modified":"2025-12-21T02:48:17","modified_gmt":"2025-12-21T02:48:17","slug":"max-verstappen-reveals-red-bull-call-he-disagreed-with-in-f1-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/361665\/","title":{"rendered":"Max Verstappen reveals Red Bull call he disagreed with in F1 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportweek.com\/tag\/verstappen\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Max Verstappen<\/a> has admitted that he didn\u2019t agree with Red Bull\u2019s decision to instigate a driver swap two rounds into the 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportweek.com\/series\/single-seater\/formula-1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formula 1<\/a> season.<\/p>\n<p>Lawson commenced the campaign alongside Verstappen at Red Bull, having been chosen over Yuki Tsunoda to replace the ousted Sergio Perez.<\/p>\n<p>However, a wretched opening two weekends in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.formula1.com\/en\/racing\/2025\/australia\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Australia<\/a> and China prompted Lawson to be demoted back to Racing Bulls, with Tsunoda taking his place.<\/p>\n<p>Verstappen expressed at the time that he didn\u2019t support the choice, a view he has doubled down on with Tsunoda enduring the same struggles as his predecessor.<\/p>\n<p>Verstappen made it clear that situations like Lawson\u2019s can leave lasting damage on rookies, citing that Red Bull\u2019s call to make a change so soon was rash.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo races next to one team-mate, I didn\u2019t agree with that at the time,\u201d Verstappen told Viaplay. \u201cIn the end, you ruin someone\u2019s chances with a top team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite the setback, Verstappen praised Lawson\u2019s response. The Japanese driver managed just 30 points across the season.<\/p>\n<p>Verstappen clarified that a lack of talent is never an issue amongst his team-mates. Rather, the various ways drivers adapt to the car and their different driving styles play a crucial role.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey try to use my set-up,\u201d Verstappen said. \u201cBut in the end, every driver has his own driving style.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt some point, of course, you grow together, especially in the second half of the season.
