Matt Kuchar and his son Cameron combined to shoot a 15-under 57 to open up a two-shot lead on day one of the PNC Championship.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Kuchars raced out of the blocks, putting circles on their scorecard at the opening three holes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Five more birdies saw them make the turn in 28.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Their back nine at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida, was equally impressive, with the duo making seven more birdies.\u00a0<\/p>\n
They lead John Daly and his son John Daly II by two strokes. A host of teams, including Nelly Korda and her father Petr, are three back.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Daly and his son are more than likely to be the Kuchars’ biggest challengers. They captured the title here four years ago with a record score.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“He’s the horse and the saddle,” Daly said of his son. “That’s all there is to it.”<\/p>\n
“We didn’t get off to the best of starts. We were even par after two and the Kuchars got hot quick and we kind of fed off them a little bit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“It was just one of those great days, good ball striking.<\/p>\n
“Like I said, if I could have given Little John a few better reads on the greens I think we could have went a little lower.<\/p>\n
“He played great. I never really play that great, but that’s all right in my life right now.”<\/p>\n
The reigning champions, Bernhard Langer and his son Jason, are not out of the hunt but will need something extra special tomorrow if they are to defend their title.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The PNC Championship is the final tournament of the calendar year, bringing together past major winners and members of their family.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Notable absentees this year include Tiger Woods and his son Charlie. Tiger, who turned 50 today, is still recovering from his latest back surgery.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The PNC Championship has a total purse of $1m, with $200,000 awarded to the winning team.\u00a0<\/p>\n
