Referees in Fiji are set to receive opportunities to officiate in Super Rugby matches, with discussions currently underway to finalise their inclusion within the competition\u2019s officiating structure.<\/p>\n
This was shared by International Referee Rasta Rasivhenge, who was the chief guest at the Fiji Rugby Union Referees Awards Night held at the Vodafone Arena last night.<\/p>\n
Rasivhenge is a South African rugby union referee and a member of the South African Rugby Union Premier Panel.<\/p>\n
He was also appointed to referee the final of the rugby sevens tournament at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.<\/p>\n
He says Drua CEO Mark Evans is in talks with Super Rugby management to allow Fiji referees to officiate in the competition.<\/p>\n
Rasivhenge praised the standard of refereeing in Fiji, crediting the Fiji Rugby Union and other stakeholders for their continued support and development of local officials.<\/p>\n
He also encouraged youths and current players who are interested in rugby officiating to pursue refereeing with passion, noting that exposure to higher-level tournaments plays a key role in improving skills.<\/p>\n
Rasivhenge will remain in the country for the McDonald\u2019s Coral Coast 7s, which is scheduled to take place next month in Sigatoka.<\/p>\n
