The DC Universe<\/a> franchise is working on a new Wonder Woman<\/a> movie, as Diana Prince will return to the big screen as part of James Gunn’s ongoing superhero franchise. As the DCU’s Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters”<\/a> is still early in its run, DC’s Amazon Princess will be a crucial part of the reboot.<\/p>\n

As Alexandra Daddario has continued to be a popular choice for Wonder Woman in the DCU, Horrific Heroics<\/a> made artwork of what she could look like as Diana, thus replacing Gal Gadot, who played the role in the DCEU. Check it out below:<\/p>\n

When Daddario spoke with ScreenRant’s own Grant Hermanns in October 2025, she was made aware of the many fan-art pieces that people have been making of her as the DC legend. She stated, “I have to be honest, I haven’t seen any of that [fan art].”<\/p>\n

However, that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t be up for the opportunity. Daddario added, “But of course, working with James Gunn would be amazing in any capacity, but I wasn’t aware that that was going on.”<\/p>\n

On June 10, 2025, the Wonder Woman movie<\/a> for the DCU was formally announced to be in development. Gunn confirmed on July 21 that the script is currently being written by Supergirl writer Ana Nogueira. Following the success of Superman, it was reported that DC Studios was fast-tracking Diana’s reboot.<\/p>\n

Gunn stated in an interview with Rolling Stone that Wonder Woman is a big priority<\/a> for the DCU franchise. The DC Studios co-CEO stated the following about Diana’s solo film, as well as the reboot for the DCU’s Batman<\/a>:<\/p>\n

James Gunn: I don\u2019t know what they mean by fast-tracking. [Laughs.] I\u2019ve always had Wonder Woman as a priority. But we got the first few things started, and there\u2019s some other things that are really close to green-lighting \u2014 like there\u2019s a television show that I hope that we\u2019re gonna be green-lighting in the next few days. So now a little time has passed, and we really need Wonder Woman and we really need Batman, because they\u2019re so important to us. And so it\u2019s become a little bit more like going to everybody at DC and being like, we need to figure this out. We have good writers on Wonder Woman and we just have to make sure it\u2019s working and they have to not be somebody who\u2019s gonna take two years to write a script.<\/p>\n

Patty Jenkins<\/a>, who directed the two Wonder Woman films in the DCEU movie timeline<\/a>, was asked in an interview back in November if she would want to tackle the character again as the DCU is working on the character’s next take. The filmmaker said at the time, “You know what, you never say never because I love Wonder Woman.”<\/p>\n

DC Studios’ Wonder Woman movie currently doesn’t have a set release date.<\/p>\n
