YouTube\u2019s automated moderation is under fire after a creator claimed he was banned for simply listing their business email in a video description.<\/p>\n
As 2025 draws to a close, creators have warned that AI-driven moderation enforcement is not functioning correctly across the platform.<\/p>\n
Tech YouTuber Enderman said multiple channels with hundreds of thousands of subscribers were wiped out overnight<\/a>, arguing the decisions came from automated systems with no human oversight.<\/p>\n In another viral incident, SpooknJukes had a video restricted after YouTube flagged his laugh as \u201cgraphic content.\u201d<\/a> The video was only fully monetized once the laugh was removed.<\/p>\n Article continues after ad<\/p>\n Elsewhere, YouTube\u2019s AI shut down a livestream after mistaking a microphone for a firearm<\/a>.<\/p>\n Now, YouTuber Boxel is hitting out at the platform, alleging their channel was terminated because of an email in their video description.<\/p>\n YouTuber says platform\u2019s AI banned channel because of their email<\/p>\n In a series of posts, Boxel, who was banned for over 30 days, claimed that they finally figured out why they had been terminated.<\/p>\n Article continues after ad<\/p>\n \u201cThey said I redirected viewers [to] \u2018another site\u2019 which I never did. But, I know what is actually the case. YouTube AI have mistaken my business email for another site.\u201d<\/p>\n Article continues after ad<\/p>\n In an attached email from YouTube<\/a>, the platform claimed that Boxel\u2019s account had been taken down for violating the site\u2019s spam policies, which include promising viewers something in a video and redirecting them to another website.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is the exact thing that could have triggered YouTube AI moderation that wiped my channel wrongfully. Having email in description IS NOT against YouTube Policy,\u201d the creator blasted. \u201cYouTube thinks my email is redirecting users to another site.\u201d<\/p>\n Article continues after ad<\/p>\n Boxel continued to accuse YouTube\u2019s AI of not knowing the difference between an email and a link.<\/p>\n \u201cFix the Mistake! The email in my description is not malicious practice!\u201d they exclaimed. \u201cIt\u2019s fair and allowed. Just because it ends with \u2018.com\u2019 [doesn\u2019t] mean it\u2019s a link. Just because it ends with “.com” don’t mean it’s a link it’s my email.<\/p>\n Fix the mistake!<\/p>\n i shouldn’t be banned for AI mistake! look into it.<\/p>\n \u2014 Boxel (@Rahimkhan_id) December 16, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n YouTube denies banning user for including their Gmail in video<\/p>\n YouTube responded to the accusations, claiming that the channel was terminated for a different reason altogether.<\/p>\n \u201cThis channel was terminated correctly for violations that had nothing to do with their business email,\u201d the platform said.<\/p>\n Article continues after ad<\/p>\n They followed this by defending their recent moderation rulings, claiming the majority of moderation decisions they\u2019ve reviewed \u201chave been correct.\u201d YouTube itself ultimately decides whether or not a ruling is \u201ccorrect\u201d or not.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen we make a mistake, we own it and work hard to fix it,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n This isn\u2019t the first time the platform has defended its moderation policies.
