The Boston Bruins finally suffered their first overtime loss of the season on Saturday, losing 5-4 to the Vancouver Canucks in shootouts at TD Garden.<\/p>\n
It was a frustrating loss for the Bruins, who saw their perfect 6-0 record snapped in shootouts. Boston outplayed the Canucks and had more than twice as many shots on goal, but made several costly mistakes and mental lapses that came back to haunt them.<\/p>\n
The Bruins had multiple chances to win the game in shootouts but failed to score in all seven of their opportunities<\/a>, missing out on a point in the process.<\/p>\n After the game, head coach Marco Sturm was clearly disappointed in the final outcome and didn\u2019t hold back in his analysis.<\/p>\n Brick asked Marco Sturm if he thinks the Bruins deserved to win this game. Unfortunately, it just cost us a point.\u201d<\/p>\n Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n Sturm acknowledged that Boston played well early on but wasn\u2019t able to maintain it for the full 60 minutes, failing to put Vancouver away and allowing them to come back<\/a> with sloppy miscues.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \u201cThose kinds of teams, you have to put away early on, and we just didn\u2019t,\u201d Sturm added. \u201cAnd all of a sudden, little things make a big difference.
