{"id":363032,"date":"2025-12-21T18:56:10","date_gmt":"2025-12-21T18:56:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/363032\/"},"modified":"2025-12-21T18:56:10","modified_gmt":"2025-12-21T18:56:10","slug":"womens-super-league-west-ham-set-to-appoint-rita-guarino-as-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/363032\/","title":{"rendered":"Women&#8217;s Super League: West Ham set to appoint Rita Guarino as manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">West Ham are set to appoint Rita Guarino as their women&#8217;s team manager following the sacking of Rehanne Skinner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Italian, who picked up 99 caps for her national team as a player, has not yet managed outside of Italy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">She was most recently in charge of Inter Milan between 2021 and 2024, having previously led Juventus to four successive Serie A titles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 54-year-old has experience working with youth teams from her time with Italy&#8217;s under-17s, who she acted as head coach and assistant for.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/articles\/c87lqgp4l50o\" class=\"ssrcss-k8mrr8-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Skinner was sacked by West Ham<\/a> on Thursday after winning only one of their 11 Women&#8217;s Super League matches this season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It is believed West Ham had been monitoring the availability of Guarino before the winter break, with a view to appointing her.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Guarino&#8217;s arrival will be seen as a bold move by West Ham because she is a relative unknown in England.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">One of her first priorities will be to navigate the January transfer window as West Ham look to move up the table.
