It\u2019s one of my favourite races on the cyclocross calendar and now it\u2019s even more so,\u201d he said. \u201cThese are days to cherish.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Unlike his aggressive early move in Antwerp, Van der Poel waited longer before delivering the decisive acceleration. It was a conscious choice on a circuit that rewards precision and timing as much as brute force.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou also have to think about everything that\u2019s still to come,\u201d he explained. \u201cOn a circuit like today\u2019s, it\u2019s a bit easier to make the difference, especially if you have a few good sand sections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sand, timing, and confidence<\/p>\n<p>While Koksijde remains synonymous with deep sand, Van der Poel pointed out that the course demanded adaptation rather than repetition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I said beforehand, the sand sections were also different today,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m happy with my sand technique.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By holding something in reserve and striking decisively when it mattered, Van der Poel reinforced a familiar pattern this winter.
