The 82-year-old has openly accused Horner of repeatedly lying and undermining his position following Dietrich Mateschitz\u2019s passing, which is surely just the start of the explosive revelations we can expect from Marko.<\/p>\n<p>The chances of the veteran going quietly were always going to be extremely low, but after a couple of days in which he didn\u2019t really react to his removal from Red Bull Racing and the Austrian company\u2019s entire motor racing programme, Marko has been busy giving interviews to anyone and everyone that contacts him, lashing out against his former employers and attacking Horner at every single possibility.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Dutch daily newspaper De Limburger, which has close ties to the Verstappen family, Marko recalled that while Mateschitz was alive there were no doubts about who was in charge, recalling that, \u201cTogether with Didi (Dietrich Mateschitz) I founded Red Bull Racing in 2005. We appointed Horner as team principal, and I was there as a supervisor. In principle, the power was always in Austria, we made the decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But, as it\u2019s widely known, once the billionaire\u2019s health deteriorated, Horner saw his chance to grab the power, Marko now recalling that, \u201cI remember a party earlier in 2022, ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix, Didi was there but not in good health. Christian came up to me and said, \u2018he won\u2019t make it to the end of the year\u2019. From that moment on, Christian began cozying up to Chalerm Yoovidhya (the other Red Bull shareholder). And when Didi passed away later that year, Christian did everything he could to take control of the company with Yoovidhya\u2019s support. On behalf of \u2018Austria\u2019, I did everything possible to prevent that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clearly out to get his revenge, Marko also added that, \u201cthose final years with Horner were not pleasant. Dirty games were being played. Do you remember when it was claimed that I said Mexicans were less focused than Dutch or German people during P\u00e9rez\u2019, that was fabricated, possibly by them.<\/p>\n<p>And the same goes for the claim that in 2024 I spread the story that our engine development was behind schedule and that we would therefore lose Ford as a partner. I never said that, but Horner wanted to use it to have me suspended. Because of Max\u2019s support in Jeddah, that didn\u2019t happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Explaining how Horner ended up being sacked, Marko stated that, \u201cmore and more often, we were able to prove that Horner lied about all sorts of things. Once Chalerm realised that too, he changed his mind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But the new management at Red Bull also received criticism, as Marko claimed that the quotes in the press release announcing his departure were fabricated. The Austrian made it clear that, \u201cI don\u2019t want to go into too much detail, but I didn\u2019t read that nonsense press release. (Photo by Rudy Carezzevoli\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>His role at Red Bull will be split<\/p>\n<p>Helmut Marko\u2019s impromptu departure from Red Bull\u2019s motorsport activities, which left the Austrian\u2019s contract valid until the end of next year, has left the company\u2019s management with some work to fill the roles the 1971 Le Mans winner had covered for the last 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>First of all, Red Bull needs to find a new leader for its young drivers\u2019 program, as it was Marko who made all the decisions on what youngsters would be taken under the company\u2019s wing and which ones would be let go.
