Jimmy Kimmel is set to give the 2025 Alternative Christmas Message for U.K. network Channel 4.<\/p>\n
Sometimes humorous, sometimes serious, the famed message \u2014\u00a0which will air on Christmas Day \u2014\u00a0has become an annual tradition of Channel 4\u2019s and serves as an alternative to the British monarch\u2019s televised address to the nation. Various well-known yet unexpected names have given the address since it first started in 1993, with Kimmel following in the footsteps of former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, whistleblower Edward Snowden and French screen icon Brigitte Bardot.<\/p>\n

According to the network, Kimmel\u2019s message will see him reflect on the last few months \u2014\u00a0including the hugely controversial suspension by ABC of \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live\u201d following a monologue made in the wake of Charlie Kirk\u2019s murder \u2014\u00a0in a \u201cdeeply personal and characteristically jovial address.\u201d<\/p>\n
It asserted that Kimmel\u2019s Christmas message includes the line, \u201cFrom a fascism perspective, this has been a really great year.\u201d<\/p>\n
In his final monologue of 2025 for \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live,\u201d the chat show host teared up as he thanked fans for helping him get through a difficult year. Alongside ABC briefly pulling his late night talk show off the air and Kimmel\u2019s ongoing feud with President Donald Trump, he also lost his childhood best friend \u2014\u00a0and \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live\u201d bandleader \u2014 Cleto Escobedo III, who died in November.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis has been a strange year. It\u2019s been a hard year,\u201d Kimmel said at the beginning of the last \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live\u201d episode of the year on Dec. 19. \u201cWe\u2019ve had some lows, we\u2019ve had some highs. For me, maybe more than any year of my life. I\u2019m crying already, I\u2019m sorry.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kimmel fought through tears and continued, \u201cI just want to say that we appreciate your support, your enthusiasm, and not just for watching. This year, you literally pulled us out of a hole, and we cannot thank you enough personally.\u201d<\/p>\n
