BALTIMORE — New England Patriots<\/a> rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson<\/a> exited Sunday night’s 28-24 win<\/a> against the Baltimore Ravens<\/a> and was evaluated for a concussion after a 1-yard run in the second quarter.<\/p>\n

The 5-foot-10, 202-pound Henderson was tackled by Ravens safety Alohi Gilman<\/a> at the 7:06 mark of the quarter and spun around, with the back of his helmet contacting the ground. Henderson was later ruled out because of a head injury.<\/p>\n

There was no update on Henderson’s status after the game, with coach Mike Vrabel noting that the Patriots had several players not finish the game — a group that included Henderson, defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga<\/a> (foot), receiver DeMario ‘Pop’ Douglas<\/a> (hamstring), defensive tackle Joshua Farmer<\/a> (hamstring), cornerback Charles Woods<\/a> (ankle) and wide receiver Kayshon Boutte<\/a> (head).<\/p>\n

“We lost a lot of guys. A lot of guys went down. A lot of guys stepped up,” Vrabel said. “We have to get healthy, but this was a great win for us.”<\/p>\n

A speedy second-round pick out of Ohio State<\/a>, Henderson entered Sunday leading the team with 773 rushing yards on 143 carries, with seven touchdowns. The injury left the Patriots with just five-year veteran Rhamondre Stevenson<\/a> and seven-year veteran D’Ernest Johnson<\/a> at running back.<\/p>\n

Stevenson handled the full workload, with eight carries for 51 yards and the decisive touchdown in the fourth quarter, to go with two catches for 27 yards.<\/p>\n

Henderson’s big-play ability has been critical for the Patriots; he has four touchdown runs of 50-plus yards this season. Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Brown (1963) and former Tennessee Titans<\/a> running back Chris Johnson (2009) hold the NFL record for most rushing touchdowns of 50-plus yards in a season with five.<\/p>\n

Henderson entered Week 16 as the favorite to win the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year Award, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. Receivers Emeka Egbuka<\/a> (Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/a>) and Tetairoa McMillan<\/a> (Carolina Panthers<\/a>) were second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n
