Aboriginal rangers who stumbled across the weighty item suspect it came from a container ship and was used to cover cargo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Far West Coast Rangers were wrapping up their last week <a data-i13n=\"cpos:2;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/au.news.yahoo.com\/three-tonne-discovery-on-untouched-aussie-beach-reveals-devastating-truth-185535173.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:cleaning up debris;cpos:2;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">cleaning up debris<\/a> at remote Point Bell, in the west of the state, when they found the blue and orange tarpaulin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Greg Cramond, the ranger manager at the Far West Coast Aboriginal Corporation, described it as \u201cenormous\u201d, noting the biggest piece of rubbish was unintentionally saved until last.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cStorms occurred in the area back in July, and we\u2019ve been doing these marine debris cleanups on the coast,\u201d he told Yahoo News.<\/p>\n<p>How long did the tarpaulin take to remove?<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The head ranger, Charles Coleman, said the tarpaulin was exceptionally heavy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThe amazing thing about it was it was all folded up,\u201d he told Yahoo.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"A distance shot at Point Bell with the sand dunes in the background, and one ranger dragging the long tarpaulin.\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"622\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/9cf0cdf0-dc8a-11f0-bcec-4675ac37605f.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The team worked in the heat, dragging the tarpaulin over steep dunes. Source: Far West Coast Rangers<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Coleman was one of three people who spent an hour and a half in the heat, dragging it from the beach, over the steep dunes, and then onto a trailer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Incredible photos show him and his team working together to remove it, so it no longer posed a danger to wildlife.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He\u2019s worked as a ranger for around four years, and since the storms, he\u2019s seen a lot more rubbish on the beach than ever before.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWe\u2019ve picked up bottles, things that have come off the fishing boats \u2013 nets, ropes, line, everything,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Despite the work being exceptionally hard, there\u2019s one key thing that motivates him to keep cleaning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cIt\u2019s because of the fish, the sharks, whales, and turtles that get caught,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Close up of one ranger holding the tarpaulin and Point Bell.\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"624\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/c8716e80-dc8a-11f0-bff7-d2657f5234dd.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>It was the largest piece of rubbish the team had encountered at the site.
