The Australian Cricket Awards are reportedly set to be canned in 2025.<\/p>\n

The ceremony is traditionally held in the last week of January or the first week of February at Melbourne\u2019s Crown Palladium.<\/p>\n

However, due to the crammed cricket schedule, The Herald Sun<\/a> claims that Cricket Australia<\/a> have been struggling to get everyone under one roof for the annual ceremony.<\/p>\n

It is understood that the Allan Border Medal and Belinda Clark Award will still be presented to the best male and female Aussie stars.<\/p>\n

Australia\u2019s men\u2019s team are due to wrap up this summer\u2019s Ashes series on January 8 in Sydney<\/a>, but it won\u2019t be long before they are back on the move again.<\/p>\n

Members of the white-ball team will then travel to Sri Lanka for the 2026 T20I World Cup, with the Aussies set to face Ireland in their first game on February 11. Australia will also play multiple T20 warm-up matches against Pakistan prior to that.<\/p>\n

Travis Head (pictured) won the Allan Border Medal in February 2025, but was not present to accept the award as he was touring with the men’s Test side in Sri Lanka<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Australian women\u2019s side are set to commence their summer series against India, with the team set to face off in the first of three T20I matches on February 15.<\/p>\n

Because both teams will be so busy at the start of the year, the outlet claims that Cricket Australia will host the presentation of the Allan Border Medal and Belinda Clark Award virtually.<\/p>\n

It comes as Travis Head, who has been one of the stars of this year\u2019s Ashes tour, was presented with the Allan Border Medal in February of this year via a video link while Australia\u2019s Test side were 8,000km away in Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n

It was the first time in the history of the award that the winner did not accept the accolade from Border.<\/p>\n

Some fans had asked why Channel 7 and Cricket Australia could not find a way to have the winners accept the award in person.<\/p>\n

But in true Travis Head style, the South Australian joked that it was nice not to have to stand up and deliver a speech.<\/p>\n

\u2018It’s nice being away and there was no expectation of a speech or anything,\u2019 he joked to SEN Cricket.<\/p>\n

It also comes as the men\u2019s IPL is set to start in March 26 next year, while the women\u2019s equivalent, the Women\u2019s Premier League, has been moved to begin on January 9.<\/p>\n

Annabel Sutherland claimed the 2025 Belinda Clark Medal at this year\u2019s ceremony, while Josh Hazlewood was handed the Shane Warne Test Player of the Year.<\/p>\n

Ash Gardner was awarded the women\u2019s ODI Player of the Year alongside Head, who also picked up the men\u2019s equivalent.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Beth Mooney and Adam Zampa were crowned the T20I male and female players of the year.<\/p>\n

Head was the first South Australian to claim cricket\u2019s top gong.<\/p>\n

\u2018It’s hard to believe, we’ve had so many great players, so it’s hard to believe I’m the first (winner from South Australia), but I’m very proud and I’m sure everyone at home is as well,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
