A new Banksy mural that shows two children lying down and looking at the sky has appeared in west London<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The artist revealed he was behind the artwork above a row of garages on Queen\u2019s Mews in Bayswater by posting a photo of it to his Instagram account<\/a> on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n

A second, identical artwork appeared outside the Centre Point tower in central London last Friday, but Banksy\u2019s representatives have yet to confirm its provenance.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the BBC, artist Daniel Lloyd-Morgan said he believed the Centre Point location was chosen to make a point about child homelessness.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are a lot of children who are not having a good time at Christmas,\u201d he said, adding that people walking past the artwork were \u201cignoring it\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a busy area. Quite poignant that people aren\u2019t stopping. They walk past homeless people and they don\u2019t see them lying on the street,\u201d Lloyd-Morgan said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s kind of like they\u2019re stargazing. It\u2019s quite fitting that the kids are pointing up like they\u2019re looking at the north star.\u201d<\/p>\n

Centre Point tower has long been a symbol of homelessness crisis<\/a>. It was left empty for more than a decade after being completed in 1966.<\/p>\n

The name of the homelessness charity Centrepoint was inspired by the tower<\/a>, with founder Rev Ken Leech calling the building \u201can affront to the homeless\u201d. The block is now multimillion-pound flats<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jason Tomkins, a Banksy expert, also thinks the mural is a \u201cclear statement on homelessness\u201d and told the BBC he believed it depicts the same little boy catching snowflakes with his tongue seen in a Banksy artwork that appeared in Port Talbot in 2018<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is quite unusual for him to use the same little boy again, because he has never done that,\u201d Tomkins said.<\/p>\n
