Melbourne has added another new face to its mix, poaching Ned Guy from the AFL<\/a> in the newly created role of Chief of Football and Innovation.<\/p>\n

Guy spent the last four years at league headquarters as Head of Football Performance, List Management and Engagement, playing a critical role in CBA negotiations, strategic football projects and overseeing the Laws of the Game Committee.<\/p>\n

That role followed a five-year stint at Collingwood as the club’s list manager, which included the controversial time of the 2020 ‘fire sale’, where players Adam Treloar<\/a>, Jaidyn Stephenson<\/a> and Tom Phillips<\/a> were moved on under contract.<\/p>\n

Prior to that, Guy was also a successful AFL<\/a> player manager.<\/p>\n

“Ned is a highly capable and analytically minded executive with over 15 years of
experience across the AFL<\/a> industry,” Demons CEO Paul Guerra said.<\/p>\n

“He comes to the Demons with a rare 360-degree perspective of footy, having
operated as a Player Manager, a club-based General Manager of List and most recently as a senior leader within the AFL<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“We are excited by Ned’s ability to impact and support our football programs, while also utilising his expertise across the business more broadly.”<\/p>\n

Guy will commence his new role in February and will oversee both the club’s men’s and women’s football programs.<\/p>\n

His inclusion comes as the club has welcomed Guerra, along with Steven King<\/a> and Steve Smith (president), among changes to the coaching staff.<\/p>\n
