Answer: I was kind of disappointed the Miami Dolphins decided to go with Quinn Ewers, not Wilson, after benching Tua Tagovailoa this week, because it would have given us a glimpse of how Wilson might look in a Kyle Shanahan-style offense.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s got an excellent arm and Brock Purdy-like mobility. But does he have Purdy\u2019s and Jones\u2019 anticipation? That\u2019s what sets them apart and makes them strong fits for Shanahan. Wilson never showed that trait with the New York Jets, perhaps because his elite arm and athleticism meant he was never forced to develop that aspect of his game.<\/p>\n
The question, of course, is whether he could improve that under the 49ers\u2019 tutelage. He\u2019ll be 26 in the upcoming free-agency period, which was Jones\u2019 age when they signed him in March.<\/p>\n
