Disney has announced that it has moved forward with the release of Pixar\u2019s upcoming animated film, \u201cGatto\u201d, moving up a few months from the summer of 2027 to March 2027.<\/p>\n
The new original film was initially announced at last year\u2019s Annecy Film Festival and is being created by the filmmaking team behind the Disney+ Original film, \u201cLuca\u201d, director Enrico Casarosa and producer Andrea Warren.<\/p>\n
This film takes place in Venice, Italy and tells the story of a black cat named Nero, who, after years of manoeuvring the canal-ridden, superstitious city, begins to question whether he\u2019s lived the right life. Indebted to a local feline mob boss, Nero finds himself in a quandary and is forced to forge a truly unexpected friendship that may finally lead him to his purpose \u2014 unless Venice gets the better of him first.<\/p>\n
Originally, the film was set to arrive in cinemas on June 18th, 2027, but will now be hitting cinemas on March 5th, 2027.\u00a0 This will also mean we will likely see the film arrive on Disney+ during the summer, a few months after its theatrical release.<\/p>\n
Roger\u2019s Take: It is probably a good thing that Disney is bringing forward the release of \u201cGatto\u201d, since it was going to be going head-to-head with \u201cSpider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse\u201d, along with the new \u201cShrek\u201d film.\u00a0 This gives \u201cGatto\u201d a better chance of getting families heading to the cinema during the spring holiday.<\/p>\n
