Lady Gaga<\/a>\u2019s new concert film,\u00a0Lady Gaga in Harlequin Live \u2014 One Night Only, will premiere on YouTube on Christmas Eve (December 24th).<\/p>\n

Captured on September 30th, 2024 at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles, the concert film depicts Lady Gaga performing the entirety of her 2024 jazz and traditional pop album\u00a0Harlequin<\/a>. That album arrived as a companion soundtrack to the 2024 film Joker: Folie \u00e0 Deux<\/a>, in which Gaga starred as Harley Quinn. It features reinterpretations of cuts from the Great American Songbook, such as \u201cGet Happy,\u201d \u201cSmile,\u201d and \u201cThat\u2019s Life,\u201d as well as a pair of originals from the film, \u201cFolie \u00e0 Deux\u201d and \u201cHappy Mistake.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the concert film\u2019s title suggests, Lady Gaga performed the album in full to a small group of fans for one night only following Harlequin\u2019s release in September 2024. Attendees were required to lock their phones in pouches, and Gaga performed on a set dressed to resemble a \u201cdingy apartment.\u201d Gaga took the stage in character as Harlequin (not as Harley Quinn), and presented the performance as if it was a musical instead of a traditional concert.<\/p>\n

The set also featured an homage to Gaga\u2019s late collaborator Tony Bennett, with whom she made two jazz albums: 2014\u2019s Cheek to Cheek and 2021\u2019s\u00a0Love for Sale. During her rendintion of \u201cSmile,\u201d a video of Bennett began playing on a black-and-white television onstage. Discussing the nod to Bennett with Variety<\/a>, Gaga said that \u201cSmile\u201d was one of his favorite songs, and the moment was \u201cone of those wild moments in a stage performance where you\u2019re bringing in a little bit of the real world, with a little bit of a wink.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film was shot by director of photography Marcell R\u00e9v \u2014 who also collaborated with Gaga on the video for \u201cDisease\u201d<\/a> \u2014 with musical direction by Gaga, Brian Newman, Tim Stewart, and Alex Smith. She initially premiered the film during an event at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles on December 18th, 2025. In a Q&A discussion following the screening, Gaga described the album and film as \u201ca kind of a rebellious project. And, by Harlequin standards, Christmas is the perfect time to release something rebellious.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also received seven nominations for the upcoming 2026 Grammys<\/a>. In addition to nabbing Record and Song of the Year nominations for \u201cAbracadabra\u201d \u2014 one of the Best Songs of 2025<\/a> \u2014 and an Album of the Year nod for Mayhem, Gaga earned a nomination for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for Harlequin.
