<\/p>\nSydney FC\u2019s weekend fixtures in both the A-League Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s competitions have been postponed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The\u00a0annual playing field maintenance at Leichhardt Oval\u00a0has unfortunately experienced delays and the pitch is not ready to\u00a0accommodate\u00a0the games.<\/p>\n
The Sky Blues Men were scheduled to host Auckland FC in a top-of-the-table clash at 5pm on Saturday 27th December, while Sydney FC\u2019s Women were set to face Brisbane Roar FC at 5pm on Sunday 28th December.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are extremely disappointed not to be able to host these important Christmas holiday fixtures, particularly the top of the table clash between ourselves and Auckland FC,\u201d said Executive Vice\u00a0Chairman\u00a0Sebastian Gray.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know how disappointing this is for our\u00a0Members\u00a0and fans during the holiday period, especially given\u00a0we\u2019ve\u00a0had six\u00a0great home\u00a0games at Leichhardt Oval this season.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe worked hard to find alternative venues, however given the\u00a0time of year we were unable to find anything suitable.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d like to thank everyone for their continued support, the team at the club as well as our partners\u00a0at Inner West Council\u00a0who have worked hard to solve this issue, and we look forward to working with them in future.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

General Manager Inner West Council Peter Gainsford said: \u201cCouncil has been undertaking our annual playing field maintenance at Leichhardt Oval.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnfortunately, there has been a delay to the surface returning to the high-quality standard that we pride ourselves on.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThis follows\u00a0additional\u00a0games in November scheduled at Leichhardt Oval as requested by Sydney FC.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cA number of\u00a0grounds in Sydney are undergoing similar maintenance\u00a0at this time\u00a0which is why no alternative grounds are available.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are confident it will be fit to play on by early January and look forward to welcoming Sydney FC back on January 9.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Sydney FC\u2019s Women\u2019s match against Brisbane Roar has now been rescheduled and will take place on Wednesday, February 4 at Leichhardt Oval \u2013 kick off 7.30pm.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Men\u2019s fixture against Auckland FC is still to be finalised.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Sydney FC Members will have access to\u00a0both re-arranged games as part of their Membership entitlements.\u00a0<\/p>\n
