The cat is out of the bag yet again. After trailers playing in theaters last week seemed to confirm that Chris Evans\u2019 Steve Rogers will return in 2026\u2019s Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel finally released the footage to those of us who haven\u2019t bought a ticket for Avatar: Fire And Ash<\/a> yet. The clip also confirms that the film will hit theaters on December 18, 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Otherwise, the clip doesn\u2019t reveal too much. Steve pulls up to a country home aboard his bike, Triumph. Inside, he holds and gazes lovingly at an infant. Is this his infant? Perhaps, or perhaps Steve has picked up a couple of babysitting gigs now that he\u2019s no longer Captain America. We will find out more in a year!\u00a0<\/p>\n

Evans\u2019 return for Doomsday\u2014which kicked off its hype cycle at San Diego Comic Con in 2024 by confirming another major Avengers actor<\/a> would return\u2014has been speculated for a while. Deadline reported<\/a> last December that Evans would return not as Captain America but as Steve Rogers. \u201cYeah, no\u2014happily retired!\u201d Evans told Esquire<\/a> the following month, lamenting that \u201cThis always happens. I mean, it happens every couple years\u2014ever since Endgame. I\u2019ve just stopped responding to it.\u201d In June, Evans, who at the time was promoting Materialists with Fantastic Four star Pedro Pascal, told ScreenRant,<\/a> \u201cIt\u2019s sad to not be back with the band, but I\u2019m sure they\u2019re doing something incredible.\u201d How sad could it have been, really?<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The cat is out of the bag yet again.
