Yet, the Yankees might prefer to bolster their pitching staff with the addition of Cabrera. Reuter argues that it is a move the Yankees should make despite Dominguez\u2019s upside. <\/p>\n \u201cStill only 22 years old, Dom\u00ednguez posted a 101 OPS+ with 10 home runs, 47 RBI and 23 steals over 123 games in his first full season in the majors, and he has long been regarded as a potential future star,\u201d Reuter wrote in a December 19, 2025, story titled, \u201cYankees Free-Agency and Trade Blueprint to Salvage the Offseason in 5 Steps.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHowever, he logged a middling .618 OPS with five extra-base hits in 120 plate appearances after the All-Star break and was a non-factor down the stretch, so the Yankees could opt to move him while upside still drives his value,\u201d Reuter added. <\/p>\n \u201cFlipping him to an offense-needy team in the Marlins in exchange for Edward Cabrera would fill a spot in the starting rotation to help bridge the gap to Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rod\u00f3n returning.\u201d<\/p>\n The Yankees Continue To Be Linked to Veteran Pitchers in MLB Rumors<\/p>\n Cabrera is not exactly a household name, but the pitcher is coming off a standout season with the Marlins. The pitcher went 8-7 in 2025 with a 3.53 ERA and a career-high 150 strikeouts. <\/p>\n More good news for the Yankees about this potential move: Cabrera is on a team-friendly $3.7 million contract<\/a> for 2026.
