One year ago, Jordan Anthony<\/a> packed up his life in Perth and moved across the world to Los Angeles to chase his dreams of becoming a pop sensation.<\/p>\n

Some people might remember the 21-year-old as the young man from the northern suburbs who made it into the top 14 on American Idol, singing in front of judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, who helped him pave the way to success.<\/p>\n

But now with more than 55,000 followers across his social media platforms, more than 9000 monthly listeners on Spotify and a new single called Hurt Me Sooner, Anthony is heading home from LA, where he is now based, for one of his biggest shows in Perth.<\/p>\n

On January 15, Anthony will take to the stage at the Rosemount Hotel where he his set to perform his own hits such as Reckless, Tell Me and viral collaboration Cherry, as well as playing a new song which he will release on the day.<\/p>\n

He will be joined by his mates, alternative-rocker Jack Hamilton and singer Jacinta Jean, with support from WA Academy of Performing Arts graduates.<\/p>\n

Anthony said he was excited for the all-ages gig as it would be his last Perth hurrah before heading back to LA next year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m super excited because it\u2019s actually probably going to be my biggest show that I\u2019ve done in Perth,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s kind of everyone\u2019s last chance to see me perform with the band before I head off.\u201d<\/p>\n

The show follows Anthony\u2019s standout journey on American Idol, which he described as an amazing experience to break into the US music scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was crazy for me, being an Aussie kid from Perth, going out there to pursue my dream, and I knew that America was always the place where I needed to be to pursue my dream of being a successful artist.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing a part of American Idol and seeing the level of production value they have over there with all the things they do was super surreal for me.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was kind of going in there just really wanting to showcase what I can do and do my best and it was such an amazing opportunity and a lot of my connections, and my friendships that I now have in the US are because of Idol.\u201d<\/p>\n

Anthony said if it wasn\u2019t for the talent scouts who discovered him on TikTok and encouraged the rising star to audition, he wouldn\u2019t have become friends with Alex Warren or crossed paths with global superstars like Teddy Swims.<\/p>\n

The Sacred Heart College graduate has been living in LA for a year, writing, recording and doing shows \u201chere and there\u201d with intentions of touring the US in 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201c(Living in LA) it\u2019s pretty crazy. I\u2019m not gonna lie, we\u2019re so lucky in Perth, it\u2019s such a laid back, chill, beautiful lifestyle, and I\u2019m going over there where it\u2019s definitely a lot more fast paced,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I love the chase and working hard in pursuit of something, and I think there are a lot of people there in the States who have a similar mindset and because of that, you meet a lot of awesome people along the way that are passionate about the same things as you.<\/p>\n

\u201cI definitely have those pinch-me moments now and then.\u201d<\/p>\n

Anthony is working towards releasing an EP filled with songs inspired by his family, heartbreak, love, loss, his experience of packing up his life and moving across the world, experiencing new cities and chasing a dream.<\/p>\n

A passion for music runs deep in Anthony\u2019s family as his parents met while performing in a musical together and his sisters also sing, act and dance.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy dad\u2019s now a full-time vocal coach and he\u2019s been a massive part of my musical upbringing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been so lucky to have such an incredible supportive family and I definitely don\u2019t take that for granted.\u201d<\/p>\n
