John Daly not ever being involved in the Ryder Cup in any capacity is one of those golf facts that makes you go \u201cwait, what?\u201d It\u2019s sad, but true. Daly is the only man from either the United States or Europe to have won two major championships and not be selected to play in the biennial event since its inception in 1927.<\/p>\n
Of course, there\u2019s still time for Daly to captain or co-captain the U.S. side in the Ryder Cup. Though, as he pointed out in an exclusive interview with Hard Rock Bet, his chances of getting the top job are slim to none. Then again, we all would have said the same about Keegan Bradley before he got the look for 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d love to be a captain one day, but that ain\u2019t never going to happen,\u201d said Daly.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But what about co-captain? Maybe alongside Tiger Woods in the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor? Daly can dream.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cTiger would be an unbelievable captain,\u201d Daly added. \u201cI would love to be a co-captain or just be a part of it somehow.\u201d<\/p>\n

You wouldn\u2019t find many American fans opposed to a Woods-Daly ticket in Ireland in \u201927, as outlandish as that may sound. If getting the U.S. team to act and play a little more loose is the goal, Daly would be an ideal co-captain.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d love to see it, put my input in, and hopefully help the guys,\u201d he said. \u201cI think it\u2019d be an experience for me that I\u2019ve always dreamed of doing ever since I won the PGA Championship in 1991.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Daly added that he felt like he should have been selected for the team twice, but it \u201cjust didn\u2019t happen.\u201d Being a part of it in any way in the future would certainly be a nice consolation prize, especially for a man who truly bleeds red, white and blue.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In an ideal world, Daly would happily try to get the Americans to feel the same way.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI think our team just needs to become more of a family and really get behind the United States of America\u2014the flag\u2014and not worry about what we can get out of it,\u201d he said. \u201cFor me, personally, I just want that Ryder Cup trophy.\u201d<\/p>\n
