For the entirety of his career, JaVale McGee has filled whatever role his team needs.<\/p>\n

During his time in the NBA, he was a role player, helping the Golden State Warriors (two) and the Los Angeles Lakers win NBA championships.<\/p>\n

He filled a similar role with the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games squad with Team USA, which claimed the gold medal.<\/p>\n

But now in the NBL, the 37-year-old has been thrust into the role of team superstar with the Illawarra Hawks.<\/p>\n

Through the first 17 games of the Hungry Jack\u2019s NBL26 season, the University of Nevada, Reno alum is averaging 22 points, 10.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game.<\/p>\n

The transition to team star has been a pleasant one, the 37-year-old said in recent interview with Men\u2019s Health Australia<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not much of an adjustment, really. If anything, it\u2019s a pleasure,\u201d McGee said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause it\u2019s not that hard to be a role player. You know your role, and you get it done as a professional. As a role player, the game becomes more of a job.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cBut when you\u2019re the star, the game is a lot more fun and intentional. I have more space 1766621228 to play how I want.\u201d<\/p>\n
