A severe weather warning has been issued for an extensive area along WA\u2019s coast.<\/p>\n
The Bureau of Meteorology issued the warning at 12.04pm on Friday, telling residents between Mandurah and Walpole to expect gusty showers and thunderstorms early on Saturday.<\/p>\n
\u201cGusty lines of showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop about a cold front approaching the far South West coast early Saturday, reaching the Lower West district mid-morning before weakening,\u201d the warning said.<\/p>\n
\u201cA second more vigorous cold front will push across the South West during Sunday morning, bringing a broader risk of damaging winds to the region.\u201d<\/p>\n
From early Saturday morning, damaging wind gusts in excess of 90km\/h will be possible, and thunderstorms are set to hit before sunrise.<\/p>\n
Heavy rainfall is expected to bring totals between 25 to 35mm to areas in the warning zone and up to 50mm in isolated areas.<\/p>\n
Conditions will ease by midday but are expected to redevelop late on Saturday evening between Cape Naturaliste and Walpole as the second front approaches the far South West.<\/p>\n
The cold front approaching on Saturday is said to be typical for this time of year, but the BoM stated WA only experiences fronts as windy as the one forecast for Sunday about five times per year.<\/p>\n
Locations which may be affected include Bunbury, Busselton, Mandurah, Margaret River, Augusta and Dunsborough.<\/p>\n

Pack away, secure or tie down outdoor furniture, trampolines and other loose items around your home that could be picked up and thrown by strong winds.Prepare an emergency kit with a radio that runs off batteries, a torch, spare batteries and a first aid kit.
