There are few who are more plugged in to the world of professional golf than Brody Miller, a talented writer for The Athletic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And this week, he broke down the Brooks Koepka decision to leave LIV Golf in a way only he could.<\/p>\n

It really gives us a lot more insight into what’s going on here.<\/p>\n

Why did Brooks Koepka leave LIV Golf?<\/p>\n

The second half of the headline to Miller’s article says it all: “He’s just being Brooks Koepka.”<\/p>\n

“None of this means as much as you think it means,” Miller writes. “Just as his leaving the PGA Tour didn\u2019t represent what we thought it did in 2022. In an era of polarizing acolytes proselytizing for their side (and their bank accounts), Koepka was never Bryson DeChambeau or Phil Mickelson. He wasn\u2019t Rory McIlroy, either. He was simply a guy who took a deal because he thought it made sense. He did not buy in.\u00a0Because Brooks Koepka doesn\u2019t care.”<\/p>\n

Miller didn’t write that last line as an insult. It’s just reality.<\/p>\n

“That\u2019s his whole schtick. His persona. His identity,” Miller writes.<\/p>\n

Will Koepka return to the PGA Tour? It seems like he’ll apply to.<\/p>\n

“As we head to the next step in this saga \u2014 if Koepka does indeed apply to rejoin the PGA Tour and we wait to see how the tour handles it \u2014 it\u2019s crucial to make this clear: He\u2019s not buying into the PGA Tour, either,” Miller writes.<\/p>\n

This is just another step in Koepka’s journey.<\/p>\n

He’s one of the best golfers of this generation. But where he takes the course next remains to be seen.<\/p>\n
