\u201cI know players that can do it when they\u2019re in a bad way.\u201d<\/p>\n
Recalling his own experiences with concussions during his playing career, Keary explained he\u2019s spoken to a lot of doctors and specialists and the answers are far from back and white.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s very hard to test for it (concussion), a lot of it\u2019s subjective, a lot of the symptoms are different in different people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI do think we need to move the needle on testing in-game to make it a little bit tougher and more stringent.\u201d<\/p>\n
While Keary explained his own concussion history wasn\u2019t the main reason behind his move to the Super League in 2025, he admitted it\u2019s certainly something that has weighed on his mind over the years.<\/p>\n
\u201cI went through a really bad run (with head knocks) in 2019,\u201d Keary said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of things you have to weigh up, there\u2019s financial, there\u2019s love of the game, there\u2019s your long-term health, your family\u2014is the risk worth the reward? Am I putting myself in danger?<\/p>\n
