THE NEW Salford club have agreed a deal with the local council to play at the CorpAcq Stadium for the next two years.<\/p>\n

The venue, formerly known as the Salford Community Stadium, was home to the Red Devils since its opening in 2012, although the now wound-up club frequently complained about an unfavourable agreement to play there.<\/p>\n

Salford City Council took full ownership of the stadium, which was previously half-owned by property form Peel and is also used by rugby union side Sale Sharks, in 2024.<\/p>\n

Mason Caton-Brown, leader of the successful consortium bid<\/a> to relaunch the Championship club, has revealed that a two-year tenancy agreement has been struck.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have got an agreement in principle with the stadium. They have been really helpful in agreeing something good for both the stadium and for us,\u201d said Caton-Brown.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are looking to play there this year so I am looking forward to it. We will be running out there with our new squad on January 16 (for their second-tier opener against Oldham).<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got a two-year security of tenure with the stadium so we are just excited to be back there.<\/p>\n

\u201cConsistency is really helpful in going into this year at the stadium for the club in general.\u201d<\/p>\n

Throughout the process, Caton-Brown\u2019s consortium \u2013 which also includes businessman Paul Hancock and the former chairman of the Forever Reds Supporters Trust, Malcolm Crompton \u2013 was in constant dialogue with the RFL just like their two rivals.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey gave us instructions of what we needed to submit and they have asked us questions and picked apart our plan,\u201d explained Caton-Brown.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey wanted to see how we have made these assumptions. We have been open and honest with the RFL and told them what we needed to.\u201d<\/p>\n
