Chelsea are reportedly set to launch an investigation into a bottle being thrown towards the Aston Villa bench after their clash.<\/p>\n

Villa<\/a> were 2-1 winners thanks to two goals from Ollie Watkins as they came from behind at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n

The result keeps them three points adrift of Premier League leaders Arsenal and only one behind second-place Manchester City.<\/p>\n

As reported by The Telegraph, a plastic bottle was chucked towards the away team’s bench<\/a> once the full-time whistle was blown.<\/p>\n

Villa staff and substitutes were covered in water as a result, with one of the former signalling the direction the bottle came from.<\/p>\n

The report claims the bottle was seemingly tossed from the Chelsea<\/a> side of the dug-out, although no official confirmation on the bottle’s origin has been provided.<\/p>\n

Chelsea are set to cooperate with Villa, with authorities also ready to help find out who threw the bottle and where from.<\/p>\n

CCTV footage is likely to be reviewed to help the investigation.<\/p>\n

Once the whistle had blown for half-time, Villa fans would have had little to celebrate in terms of their side’s performance.<\/p>\n

They offered very little going forward and were made to pay for their lacklustre showing eight minutes before the break.<\/p>\n

A Reece James corner appeared to fly all the way into the goal, but replays showed that it took a slight touch off Joao Pedro.<\/p>\n

Chelsea had a huge call for a penalty at the beginning of the second half when the ball hit the arm of Ian Maatsen.<\/p>\n

However, the Premier League later revealed that his arm was deemed to be in a ‘justifiable position’.<\/p>\n

Villa equalised just after the hour-mark through substitute Watkins, who netted the rebound from a Robert Sanchez save.<\/p>\n

He then rose highest from a corner with six minutes left on the clock and headed in to complete the comeback.<\/p>\n

Villa have won 11 consecutive matches in all competitions, equalling their record that was set in September 1897 and March 1914.<\/p>\n
