{"id":376506,"date":"2025-12-28T17:52:13","date_gmt":"2025-12-28T17:52:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/376506\/"},"modified":"2025-12-28T17:52:13","modified_gmt":"2025-12-28T17:52:13","slug":"sa-independent-mp-nick-mcbride-charged-with-assault","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/376506\/","title":{"rendered":"SA independent MP Nick McBride charged with assault"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">South Australian independent MP Nick McBride has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Police said they responded to reports of a domestic assault at a home in Conmurra, in the state&#8217;s south-east, around 10:30am on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">An SA Police spokesperson said a 56-year-old Robe man was subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated assault.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">He was refused police bail and will appear in court on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">SA Police said an 82-year-old man from Kingston South-East was also interviewed over the incident and reported for aggravated assault.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;He will be summonsed to court at a later date,&#8221; a police spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Mr McBride was elected to the Liberal seat of MacKillop in 2018 but quit the party in 2023 to become an independent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"South Australian independent MP Nick McBride has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
